Acts 29 - Ep.7 | Legacy of the Altar

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

Kent talks about the importance and power of God's word, emphasising the necessity of receiving and listening to it with faith. He contrasts the transformative power of God's word to other forms of guidance, asserting that they don't bring change as the Word and Spirit of God does.

Kent then moves on to narrate the story of Elijah, an Old Testament prophet who delivers God’s message to the Israelites during a time of poor leadership and moral decline under the reign of Ahab, described as a bad king. Elijah, being obedient to God’s command, pronounces a drought that lasts until he decides to end it.

He is accused of causing trouble in Israel due to the hardships experienced during the drought, but Elijah attributes the trouble to Ahab and his family abandoning God's commands and leading the people astray. Elijah challenges the people of Israel to choose between serving God or the false gods Baal and Asherah, symbolizing a decision between right and wrong, life and death.

Kent uses this story to draw parallels with our contemporary situation, emphasising the importance of steadfast faith, obedience to God, and the readiness to stand up for one's beliefs, even in the face of accusation and condemnation. Kent also reflects on recent divisive government mandates and societal challenges, urging us to remember and learn from these tough times without harbouring resentment. He advocates for a strong conviction, a deep relationship with God, and the wisdom to navigate through life's difficulties with divine guidance, just like Elijah did in his time.

Overall, Kent’s message emphasises the transformative power of God’s Word, the importance of faith and obedience, and the need for divine guidance during challenging times. He encourages us to be decisive in our faith, hold firm convictions and rely on God's guidance through life's difficulties.
