Holy Week x Easter Sunday 2025

Times & Dates

Holy Week: 7pm-8pm | Monday 14 April to Friday 18 April. Every night of the week we will have communion available.

Easter Sunday: 10am Sunday 20 April

Holy Week

Every Holy Week, we dive deeper into a

specific theme, point, and story of one of the most significant moments in time.

Holy Week 2025 we will look at - What is Truth?

The Story (See video above)

In the conversation between Pontius Pilate and Jesus

Jesus identifies himself, and says, that

anyone who listens to him is on the side

of truth.

Pontius Pilate answers, ...what is truth?

Check out John 18:33-38

The Question - What is Truth?

Jesus is God ...true?

Pilate the Roman Governor standing in

front of God dismisses Jesus' words as

nothing more than opinion?

Pilate's yeah-nah moment is:

He doesn't recognise or

identify Jesus as God.

State of Play

Within our world culture, we have had

an acceleration

of identity politics, marxism, critical race

theory, atheism, and transhumanism,

just to name a few.

It comes with -

Quiet recalibration.

Incremental erasure of identity.

Reasonable adjustments.

We end up with a resonating voice from

the first century. Culture amplifies

Pilate's question - What is Truth?

My opinion

My feelings

My reality

My belief

My truth

Culture is less about reasoning and

more about staking a claim to a

personal narrative and feelings.

Culture is less about actual truth and

more about personal authenticity as

a sacred truth, no proof needed.

What of this ideology has bled into

the lives of the people of faith?

Has this changed our belief system?

Have we dismissed Jesus

for our very own understanding?

Holy Week - The Week + Sunday

Throughout each of the nights and

Sunday morning, we will look at

pivotal foundation scriptures and

'truth' for the Christian life.

Of course, this will include

deep worship and music.

Look forward to seeing you then.

Further Reading and Thoughts:

Truth - Under the Hood

The Greek word for Truth in the New Testament is alḗtheia.

Alḗtheia comes from a root that implies "unconcealed" or "unhidden," suggesting not just factual accuracy but the unveiling of ultimate reality. John 14:6 uses the same (below).

John 18:37: "...I have come into the world—to bear witness to the truth (ἀλήθεια)."

John 14:6: "I am the way, and the truth (ἀλήθεια), and the life."

Jesus embodies alḗtheia, the unveiled reality of God, tying it to both knowing and experiencing truth.

Kushta (qūštā) is the Aramaic translation means foundational and trustworthy, often tied to divine revelation in a biblical context. It conveys the idea of truth, reality, or that which is reliable and certain. It emphasis the relational, lived-out truth we’re aiming to highlight.
