"That's why our passion is to be pleasing to him in everything we do, whether we are at home with him or away from him."
Context: Jack's parents built their whole lives on one principle — whatever you do, do it as unto the Lord — and that same posture is what carried a farming family into planting a church they had no money to build.
Discussion Questions:
Jack talked about "negotiating with God" — wanting to obey but keep hold of the farm and the lifestyle. Where do we find ourselves doing the same thing?
What does it mean practically to do something "as unto the Lord" rather than for people or for recognition?
Looking at Matthew 25:40, who are the people in our region we could serve as if we were serving Jesus Himself?
God let the offering come in smaller than hoped so the church would have to trust Him. Can you name a "shortfall" in your own life that turned out to be an invitation to faith?
Application: This week, pick one thing you normally do for yourself, for pay, or for praise — and do it as unto the Lord instead. Whether it's cleaning a toilet at church or showing up for someone downcast in our region, the value isn't in the size of the job, it's in who we're doing it for.
Takeaway Thought: God doesn't need our money to move — He wants our trust, so He gets the glory.
